Creating new dimensions of solar power in Madhya Pradesh, a unit of floating solar power plant has been inaugurated. Unit-D of 88 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Plant has been started on the reservoir located in the religious pilgrimage city of Omkareshwar in Khandwa district of the state. In the floating solar project located in Omkareshwar of Khandwa district, the electricity produced by the solar panel has been converted into 33 kV and transported to 33 kV/220 kV substation Saktapur through a 4.5 km transmission line. At the same time, this substation has been connected to the grid of Madhya Pradesh Transmission Company. Also, a control room has been established near Saktapur for the control of this solar plant. It is being told that this solar plant will produce 204.58 MU electricity in a year and 207.4 hectares of area has been used in the back water of Omkareshwar Power Station Dam for this project. Talking about the environmental benefits of this solar project, on the one hand, very little land is required for the drainage system related to it. On the other hand, the presence of floating solar panels here also reduces the rate of water vaporization from water sources, which also helps in water conservation. According to the information received, about 32.5 lakh cubic meters of water can be saved from evaporation every year through this project. The solar module also helps in maintaining the normal ambient temperature of the water sources located below them, which also improves their efficiency and production. This plant has been commissioned in the presence of NHDC Managing Director, Rajiv Jain and Dhirendra Kumar Dwivedi, Project Head Omkareshwar Power Station. During this, he also praised the tremendous work done by the solar team of Omkareshwar Power Station and also assured to provide all possible support to the project.
