Bank PO
A Probationary Officer (PO) is an assistant manager of scale-I in a bank. The role of a PO is to ensure that the business of the bank keeps on increasing by catering to the banks’ customers properly, handling customer complaints, and addressing various customer related issues.
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a written exam for the hiring of Probationary Officers (PO) in different Public Sector Banks (PSU).

Bank PO Eligibility:
- A candidate’s age must be between 21-30 years while applying for the Bank PO exam. Age relaxation of 5 years is given to the candidates belonging to SC and ST categories and the age relaxation of 3 years is given to the candidate belonging to OBC.
- A candidate must be a graduate from a designated University.
Bank PO Syllabus & Exam Pattern:
Recruitment is done generally through a three-step process:
- Preliminary Exams
- Mains Exam
- Interview process
The syllabus of Bank PO exam is designed to assess the candidate’s aptitude and general awareness.
Preliminary Exam Pattern:
- English Language - 30 Questions - 30 Marks
- Numerical Ability - 35 Questions - 35 Marks
- Reasoning Ability - 35 Questions - 35 Marks
There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern:
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude - 45 Questions - 60 Marks
- English Language - 35 Questions - 40 Marks
- Data Analysis and Interpretation - 35 Questions - 60 Marks
- General, Economy/Banking Awareness - 40 Questions - 40 Marks
- Total: 155 questions carrying 200 marks to be attempted in maximum 180 minutes.
- English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) - 2 Questions - 25 Marks
IBPS PO Interview Process:
Candidates who qualify the Mains exam are finally called for the interview by IBPS. The interview carries 100 marks.

प्रोबेशनरी ऑफिसर (PO) किसी बैंक में स्केल-I का सहायक प्रबंधक होता है। PO की भूमिका यह सुनिश्चित करना है कि बैंक के ग्राहकों की उचित तरीके से सेवा करके, ग्राहकों की शिकायतों को संभालकर और ग्राहकों से संबंधित विभिन्न मुद्दों को संबोधित करके बैंक का व्यवसाय बढ़ता रहे।
बैंकिंग कार्मिक चयन संस्थान (आईबीपीएस) विभिन्न सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों (पीएसयू) में प्रोबेशनरी ऑफिसर्स (पीओ) की भर्ती के लिए लिखित परीक्षा आयोजित करता है।

बैंक पीओ पात्रता:
- बैंक पीओ परीक्षा के लिए आवेदन करते समय उम्मीदवार की आयु 21-30 वर्ष के बीच होनी चाहिए। एससी और एसटी वर्ग के उम्मीदवारों को आयु में 5 वर्ष की छूट दी जाती है और ओबीसी वर्ग के उम्मीदवारों को आयु में 3 वर्ष की छूट दी जाती है।
- अभ्यर्थी को किसी निर्दिष्ट विश्वविद्यालय से स्नातक होना चाहिए।
बैंक पीओ पाठ्यक्रम और परीक्षा पैटर्न:
भर्ती सामान्यतः तीन चरणीय प्रक्रिया के माध्यम से की जाती है:
- प्रारंभिक परीक्षा
- मुख्य परीक्षा
- साक्षात्कार प्रक्रिया
बैंक पीओ परीक्षा का पाठ्यक्रम उम्मीदवार की योग्यता और सामान्य जागरूकता का आकलन करने के लिए तैयार किया गया है।
प्रारंभिक परीक्षा पैटर्न:
- अंग्रेजी भाषा - 30 प्रश्न - 30 अंक
- संख्यात्मक योग्यता - 35 प्रश्न - 35 अंक
- तर्क क्षमता - 35 प्रश्न - 35 अंक
प्रत्येक गलत उत्तर के लिए 0.25 अंक की नकारात्मक अंकन व्यवस्था है।
आईबीपीएस पीओ मुख्य परीक्षा पैटर्न:
- रीजनिंग और कंप्यूटर योग्यता - 45 प्रश्न - 60 अंक
- अंग्रेजी भाषा - 35 प्रश्न - 40 अंक
- डेटा विश्लेषण और व्याख्या - 35 प्रश्न - 60 अंक
- सामान्य, अर्थव्यवस्था/बैंकिंग जागरूकता - 40 प्रश्न - 40 अंक
- कुल: 200 अंकों के 155 प्रश्न अधिकतम 180 मिनट में हल करने होंगे।
- अंग्रेजी भाषा (पत्र लेखन एवं निबंध) - 2 प्रश्न - 25 अंक
आईबीपीएस पीओ साक्षात्कार प्रक्रिया:
मुख्य परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करने वाले उम्मीदवारों को अंततः आईबीपीएस द्वारा साक्षात्कार के लिए बुलाया जाता है। साक्षात्कार 100 अंकों का होता है।
