BJP's firebrand tribal MLA Mohan Majhi became the new CM of the state in Odisha. Mohan Majhi's name was approved in the party legislature party meeting. In 2023, Majhi was suspended for throwing lentils at the speaker. Majhi will now take over the CM's chair after a year. 52-year-old Mohan Charan Majhi comes from the tribal community. He will be the first Chief Minister of BJP in the state. Mohan Majhi is counted among the flamboyant tribal leaders of the state. Majhi is a four-time MLA. Majhi is known for his performance in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. He has been identified for his aggressive attitude. In the 2024 assembly elections, Mohan Majhi won from Keonjhar assembly seat. He had also won from the same seat in 2019, but before that he lost the assembly in 2009 and 2014.

So far in his political career, Majhi has not been accused of corruption. Majhi is a dedicated leader of BJP. He also has good relations with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
