An emerging artist from Karnal, Haryana has been declared the winner in the emerging painter category at the Victoria and Albert Museum's Illustration Awards in London. Aditi Anand (25), a student of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) in Cambridge, England, was awarded for her artwork 'Marigolds' at a recent ceremony. The artwork will be displayed at the world-renowned Victoria and Albert (V&A) Design Museum in London until September 2025. 'Marigolds', selected from over 2,000 entries received for the V&A Awards, has won 3,000 pounds as a prize. The artwork draws attention to child labour and lost childhood in India. Inspired by flower markets in India, the artwork tells the story of a mother teaching her child to make a garland of marigold flowers. This achievement would not have been possible without the remarkable children's book illustration team at Anglia Ruskin, and I will be forever grateful for the support of my teachers and peers throughout my postgraduate study.' Shelley Jackson, Associate Professor and Course Leader for the Postgraduate in Children's Book Illustration at ARU, said: 'Aditi Anand's illustrations are as captivating as she is.'
