Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University on 19 June. This campus is located about 20 kilometers away from the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University. It was burnt by invaders about 800 years ago. But once again it has returned to its old form. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was also present with PM Modi. Actually, the ancient Nalanda University has been an indelible document of India's rich history, which reflected the glorious past of ancient India. But, the invaders of the Khilji dynasty looted it, massacred it and burnt it.
After a long wait of 800 years, efforts were made to return it to its old form and the governments worked on it. Since 2007, after the initiative of the then President APJ Abdul Kalam, a blueprint for its construction was made and PM Modi inaugurated the new campus on 19 June.
Spread over an area of about 455 acres, this campus is considered to be the world's largest net zero green campus.
Its buildings have been built using such technology that they remain cool in summer and warm in winter.
New buildings and other facilities were constructed in the new campus with an amount of Rs 1,750 crore.
Nalanda University has two academic buildings. 40 classrooms have been built in them and a grand auditorium with 300 seats has been built.
The new campus of Nalanda University also has a huge library and its own power plant. Students from 26 different countries are studying in this university.
Post graduation, doctoral research course, short certificate course, 137 scholarships for international students are special features.
The Turkish invader Bakhtiar Khilji attacked Nalanda University fiercely and ruined it. Many Buddhist monks were massacred.
The invaders set this university on fire. Since there were lakhs of books in this university, Nalanda University kept burning for three months. The flames of fire destroyed not only the glory of this university but also the glory of India.
