India's top recurve archer Deepika Kumari won her fifth silver medal in the World Cup Final. She lost to China's Li Jiaman by 0.6 in the final. Four-time Olympian Deepika, who returned to the World Cup Final after the birth of her daughter in December 2022, was seeded third among eight archers. Deepika had no problem till the semi-finals but in the gold medal match, she lost to Jiaman, who won the silver medal in the team event at the Paris Olympics. Deepika was playing the World Cup Final for the ninth time. For India, only Dola Banerjee had won a gold medal in the World Cup Final when she topped in Dubai in 2007. In the men's recurve category, Dheeraj Bommadevara lost to Paris Olympics bronze medalist Lee Woo Seok of South Korea in the first round despite leading by 4.2. The five-member Indian team had three compound and two recurve archers. Only one medal fell in India's bag. Deepika, who had performed brilliantly against Mexico's Alejandra Valencia in the semi-finals, could not maintain that momentum. She lost the first set by one point (26-27). She made a comeback in the second set but Lee won 30-28. In the third set, Lee won 27-25.
