After winning the election, Anura Dissanayake took oath as President of Sri Lanka on 23 September. He was sworn in as the 10th President of the country. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo. Anura Dissanayake replaced incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe. This is the first time in Sri Lanka that the results of the presidential election became clear in the second count as no candidate got 50% of the votes in the first round of counting. Anura has succeeded in becoming the President with the help of young voters hoping for change due to the economic crisis of 2022. The votes of the two candidates who topped the first round, Anura Kumara Dissanayake of National People's Power (NPP) and Sajith Premadasa of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), were counted for the second time. Anura Kumara Dissanayake is a leftist leader. Anura defeated current President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who has been the PM of Sri Lanka six times.
