23 September- Plan to form a special battalion of Baiga-Bharia in M.P.

Under the Shaurya Sankalp Yojana of the Tribal Affairs Department, a separate battalion will be formed for the special backward tribal groups Baiga, Bharia and Saharia residing in the state. Along with this, the interested youth of this group will be given necessary training to get them recruited in the police, army and home guard. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has given instructions to form a PVTG battalion to connect the youth of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) with employment and service. In the state, Baiga, Bharia and Saharia tribes come under the PVTG group. Similarly, in the training scheme for recruitment in the Armed Forces, the Tribal Affairs Department will also train the youth of Scheduled Caste/Tribe category to get them recruited in Navy, Army, Air Force, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, BSF, Police, Home Guard and other private security agencies. An action plan is being prepared for this. For the implementation of development schemes of Special Backward Tribal Groups (PVTG), an agency is also working in the Tribal Affairs Department under the leadership of a Director level officer for planning and implementing the development of Special Backward Tribal Groups. This agency also continuously monitors the implementation of schemes. The jurisdiction of the agency is in 15 districts of the state. State level authority agencies have also been formed for the development of Special Backward Tribes. In every authority, a person from the Special Backward Tribal category is nominated as the Chairman and three non-official members. There are 11 authorities working in the state for making and implementing schemes for the development of these Special Backward Tribes. 6 districts (Mandla, Shahdol, Balaghat, Umaria, Dindori and Anuppur) come under the jurisdiction of Baiga Development Authority. 12 villages of Patalkot area of Tamia development block of Chhindwara district come under the jurisdiction of Bharia Development Authority (Patalkot). 8 districts (Sheopurkalan, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Gwalior and Datia) come under the jurisdiction of Saharia Development Authority. The state government also provides food grants to special backward tribal groups. To free these groups from malnutrition, the government is giving Rs 1500 per month in the bank account of the female head of Baiga, Bharia and Saharia families. In the current financial year, from April 1 to August 31, 2024, a total of more than Rs 180 crore food grant has been given to 2 lakh 18 thousand 563 beneficiaries.
