70th National Film Awards were announced on 16 August. In this, Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore's film Gulmohar was selected as the Best Hindi Film. Kantara won the Best Actor and Best Film awards. Rishabh Shetty was selected as the Best Actor for the film Kantara. Nithya Menon for the Tamil film Tiruchitrambalam and Manasi Parekh for the Gujarati film Kutch Express became the Best Actress.
Sooraj Barjatya has received the Best Director award for the film Oonchai. Neena Gupta has won the Best Supporting Actress award for the same film. Arijit Singh has won the award for Brahmastra in the playback singing category. These awards have been given for those films which have been given censor certificate by the Film Censor Board between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022. The 70th National Film Awards ceremony will be held in October 2024. The National Award winner is given a Silver Lotus or Golden Lotus as a medal and a cash prize. In some categories, only the Golden Lotus or Silver Lotus is given.
