Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir
Results of elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir were declared on 8 October. Both states have 90 assembly seats and the majority figure is 46. In Haryana, BJP has formed the government for a record third time by winning 48 seats. No political party has formed the government in the state for three consecutive times so far. The swearing-in of the new Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini will take place on Vijay Dashmi on 12 October. Congress fighting under the leadership of Bhupendra Hooda in Haryana was able to win 37 seats.
Jammu and Kashmir
Out of 90 seats, 43 are in Jammu and 47 in Kashmir. BJP won 29 seats in Jammu region. BJP had fielded 20 candidates in Kashmir region. BJP could not open its account here. The alliance of National Conference and Congress was already strong in Kashmir. Out of the 42 seats of National Conference, more than 35 seats have come from Kashmir region. Congress won 6 seats here. National Conference contested 51 seats and Congress contested 32 seats in this election. In the elections held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Congress have formed a coalition government. The new Chief Minister will be Omar Abdullah. Congress-NC coalition won 48 seats.
