9-Year-Old Aarit Holds World No.1 Magnus Carlsen to a Draw
Following 19-year-old Indian Grandmaster Gukesh’s historic win, 9-year-old chess prodigy Aarit Kapil from Delhi has now held World No.1 Magnus Carlsen to a draw in the online chess tournament “Early Titled Tuesday.”
Aarit responded brilliantly to every move of the five-time world champion and even had Carlsen on the back foot, nearly clinching a win. However, due to running out of time in the final moments—only a few seconds remaining—he couldn't convert his advantage into a victory, and the game ended in a draw.
Carlsen’s Frustrations Continue
Recently, after losing to Indian Grandmaster D. Gukesh, Magnus Carlsen had visibly expressed his frustration by knocking down all his pieces from the board and leaving the chess room in anger.
Notably, R. Praggnanandhaa had also defeated Carlsen at the age of 16, marking a new era of young Indian talents challenging chess’s global elite.
