AIIMS Delhi Performs India's First Robotic Kidney Transplant

India's First Robotic Kidney Transplant Performed at AIIMS Delhi

AIIMS Delhi has successfully conducted the country's first robotic kidney transplant. This was the fifth such surgery performed at AIIMS using robotic assistance since September 3. While private hospitals typically charge ₹20 lakh or more for this procedure, AIIMS managed to carry it out for just ₹20,000–₹25,000, excluding medication costs.

For patients holding an Ayushman Bharat card, the surgery is completely free of cost.

This information was shared on October 10 by Professor V.K. Bansal and Department Head Professor Sunil Chumber from the Department of Surgery and Renal Transplantation. They informed that on October 8, the AIIMS team successfully transplanted a kidney into a 27-year-old patient using robotic assistance.

The patient's health is improving rapidly, and doctors expect him to be discharged within four to five days.
