The aircraft reportedly crashed approximately 200 meters before the runway at Baramati Airport and was engulfed in flames immediately afterward.

Ajit Pawar’s funeral was held on 29 January in his work constituency, Baramati, with full state honors. The mortal remains were placed at Vidya Pratishthan Ground for the public to pay their respects. Thousands of citizens attended the last rites.

Several senior central and state leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President Nitin Gadkari, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, were expected to participate in the funeral ceremonies.

Following the incident, the local police registered an accidental death case. The investigation has now been handed over to the Maharashtra Crime Investigation Department (CID), following standard procedures. The probe will be based on the technical report from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), operating under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. AAIB teams have already arrived at the crash site to conduct a detailed investigation into the technical and other aspects of the accident.
