Ayush Shetty Wins His First BWF World Tour Title
On June 30, rising Indian badminton player Ayush Shetty claimed his first BWF World Tour title by defeating Canada’s Brian Yang in straight games in the men’s singles final of the US Open Super 300. The 20-year-old, who had previously won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Junior Championships, triumphed 21-18, 21-13 in a 47-minute match.
This victory capped off a remarkable week for Ayush, which included a memorable comeback in the semifinal where he defeated top seed Chou Tien Chen. This win marks Ayush’s third victory over Brian Yang, having previously beaten him twice earlier this year in the Malaysia and Taipei Opens.
In the women's singles final, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma finished as the runner-up. Tanvi lost to the top-seeded Beichen Zhang from the USA in a three-game contest. Playing in her first-ever World Tour final, the unseeded teenager lost the match 11-21, 21-16, 10-21 after 46 minutes.
