At present, career
opportunities in drone technology are increasing by leaps and bounds. A few years
ago, the mention of the word drone would conjure up the image of a military
aircraft that can be flown
without a pilot. This is not the case today. Drone is usually called any
unpiloted aircraft , which is sometimes also called Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).
Drones can perform both easy and difficult tasks. Its size can sometimes be as
big as an airplane or as small as your palm. Now small drones are being used in
various tasks like photography , agriculture
, surveillance
and delivery of goods. India, which was completely dependent on
imports till some time ago, today has more than 250 companies engaged in making
drones.
Drones have
increased career opportunities in cities, villages and every area
Be it cities
or remote villages , rural areas , farm fields or playgrounds , defense
related work or disaster management , the use of drones is going to increase everywhere. Similarly,
employment opportunities will be available in many sectors like tourism , media, films. This robot - like vehicle
can reach such rugged and difficult places where sometimes it is not possible
for humans to go .
There is no doubt that drones are
becoming an integral part of life and industry in many countries of the world .
At present, drones are not only used in the military , photography and as toys. Drones are even
serving food in restaurants and lifting plates of food. Drones and robots are being used instead of
humans to handle dangerous and risky elements in thermal and nuclear power
stations and to move them from one place to another. Drones are also being used
for nuclear science , sea
exploration ,
transmission service of electrical signals, etc. Looking at the way the
demand for drones is increasing day by day , drone technology is becoming a great and
bright career.
Liberal drone
policy is increasing employment opportunities
Following the
liberal drone policy released in July 2021 , there is a lot
of activity in the Indian drone market . Categories of Drones in India Drones
in India are divided into 05 major categories based on their weight and size: - Nano: Less
than or equal to 250 grams . Micro: More than 250 grams and less than or equal
to 0.2 kg . Small: Greater than 02 kg and less than or equal to 25 kg . Medium:
more than 25 kg and less than or equal to 150 kg . Large: More than 150 kg . Now , the Indian
government has allowed the use of drones in agriculture , healthcare
and some other sectors . Drone coverage has been increased from 300 kg to 500 kg. The
government announced the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme which eases
the rules related to drones.
Over 1 lakh
opportunities in drone industry by 2025
Currently, the
drone industry in the country is worth Rs 5,000 crore .
Experts estimate that by 2025-26 it can reach a turnover of Rs 50,000 crore . The director
of the Drone Federation of India, a non-profit organization formed to promote
drones in the country, estimates that by 2025, more than one lakh employment
opportunities will be created in this sector. These opportunities
will be especially in the fields of agriculture , army, logistics,
manufacturing, energy , infrastructure , mining , media and entertainment ,
insurance etc.
Career
requirements in drone technology
Since a drone is a flying robot, the
study of drones is done under robotics engineering. Robotics engineering
includes work such as designing drones , their maintenance, development of new
applications and research. Computers are used for artificial intelligence in
drones. In the robotics branch of engineering, technical skills are
taught for the development and use of drones. This includes design instruction , operation testing , system maintenance and repairing etc. To make a career in the field
of drone technology, it is necessary to obtain a BE or BTech degree in Robotics
, Computer , IT , Mechanical , Mechatronics ,
Electronics or Electrical Engineering . If you're interested in drone technology If you
want to specialize in designing and control, then you will have to get a degree
in mechanical engineering. B.Tech degree in electrical or electronics
engineering is beneficial for designing in control and hardware. Students
wishing to make a career in drone technology should be very good in
mathematics. To make a career in the field of drone technology, it is very
important to have Physics and Mathematics subjects in class 12th. Along with
this, creative ability is also very important for invention and doing something
new in the highly competitive and technical field.
Drone Technology Courses are being
conducted in Technology Engineering Institutes located in different parts of
the country. For drone pilot training in India, one can move forward on the
path of a good career in drone technology by selecting an institute based on
suitability and quality from various flying clubs and flying academies.
