About 178 countries of the world are doing organic farming. The global market of organic products has crossed 89.7 billion US dollars. Organic farming is the future of farming.

Looking at the rapidly increasing importance of organic farming, it can be said that organic farming is the biggest need of the hour. It is noteworthy that in countries like Europe , Japan and the United States, organic food has been made compulsory for children up to five years of age due to more cases of cancer in children. Till some time back, people in our country were also completely dependent on chemical fertilizers. But now in our country too, due to increasing awareness towards health, the demand for products prepared through organic farming is increasing rapidly. Due to this, very bright career prospects have emerged in this field.

It is worth mentioning that organic farming is an evergreen method of agriculture , which maintains the purity of the environment. Organic farming maintains the natural form of the land. It increases the water holding capacity of the soil. There is no or negligible use of chemicals in it and quality production is done at low cost. In the organic method, farming is done with means like cow dung manure , compost , green manure , bacteria culture , organic manure , organic pesticides instead of chemical fertilizers , chemical pesticides and weedicides . It is worth mentioning that there are innumerable organisms living in the soil , which not only complement each other , but also provide nutrients for the growth of plants. In India, cow dung manure , compost , green manure and organic manure have already been used to increase the productivity of various crops. To make organic manure, all things like plant residues , cow dung , leftover animal fodder etc. are used. The basic objective of organic farming is to increase the production of crops by controlling pests and diseases through organic methods while adopting soil conservation processes in view of the rapidly increasing population , so that safe and healthy agricultural products are available to the people and at the same time there is minimum damage to the environment and natural resources in agricultural processes. Those food items come under the scope of organic farming , which are prepared without the help of artificial fertilizers , artificial pesticides or artificial hormones. These are naturally prepared things. Mineral elements like zinc and iron are present in large quantities in the products prepared from them. More than 40 percent of anti-oxidants are found in organic products and these are very useful from the health point of view , because the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is not only harmful for the health of the land , but the agricultural products prepared from them also have a bad effect on the health of humans and animals. Therefore, organic farming is the need of the present and future .

For organic farming, it is most important that the person doing organic farming should have availability of organic seeds and organic fertilizers. Indeed, farming in our country is based on monsoon. If the monsoon is good, then the market also becomes strong. In such a situation, organic farming has proved to be a profitable deal even for those areas which are dependent on rain . Even now people believe that large scale land is required for organic farming. Whereas the truth is that this farming can be done even on a small piece of land. Initially, organic crops can be grown on a small scale , later it can be given a bigger size or commercial form. Through this, wheat , paddy , vegetables , maize , pigeon pea and gram etc. can be cultivated initially. In the name of fertilizer, neem and mustard cake , neem oil , vermicompost are used in it. High quality crop is obtained at low cost from organic farming. You will be surprised to know that 80 percent cost is reduced by doing organic farming as compared to chemical farming.

If you are interested in agriculture or agriculture related fields and are thinking of making a bright career in the field of agriculture, then organic farming is a good career option for you. A large number of youth across the country have started moving towards this field seeing a safe and profitable future in it. It is worth mentioning that not only the youth are benefiting from business and entrepreneurship through farming , but others have also got employment. Unemployed youth looking for work in the village are given work under organic farming. The future of organic farming is bright , but for this one has to work out of the box. During organic farming, there may be some decline in production in the beginning and it may take some time for farming to get back on track. One has to be mentally prepared for this.
