Census 2027: 33 Questions to Be Asked in the First Phase
The first phase of India’s Census 2027 will be conducted between April 1 and September 30. During this phase, a comprehensive house listing and housing census will be carried out across the country. Each state and Union Territory will conduct the exercise within a fixed period of 30 days.
The Government has issued an official notification for the census, making public the 33 questions that census officials will ask citizens. The notification, released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, authorizes census officials to collect detailed data on households and families across India during Census 2027.
According to the notification, all census officers will collect information through the House Listing and Housing Census Schedule by asking residents within their assigned local areas specific questions related to housing conditions, household assets, and basic amenities.

Geo-Tagging of All Buildings
In the first phase of Census 2027, every building will be geo-tagged, including closed or vacant structures. For this purpose, a Census Management and Monitoring System has been developed, which will enable real-time monitoring of census activities across the country.
