Cheetahs to Stay in Madhya Pradesh, Nauradehi Becomes Third Home
The Nauradehi Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh has been approved as the new home for cheetahs. With this approval by the Central Government, the relocation of cheetahs to Rajasthan and Gujarat will no longer take place.
For preparation, the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has been allocated 4 crore INR from the Central CAMP fund. This fund will be used to build four quarantine enclosures and one soft-release enclosure across the tiger reserves in Sagar and Damoh.
In 2026, a new batch of cheetahs will be brought from South Africa to this tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring the species thrives in its third home within the state.
