China praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's positive comments on India-China relations made on March 17, in which he emphasized the importance of dialogue over differences. During a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded to a question about Modi’s remarks during an interview with American podcaster Lex Friedman. Mao Ning stated that China has paid attention to and appreciated Modi's recent positive comments on China-India relations.
Mao also mentioned that the successful meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia, in October provided strategic guidance for improving and developing bilateral relations. She emphasized that both sides have seriously implemented important agreements, strengthened exchanges, and achieved positive results.
"I want to emphasize that, in the more than 2000 years of mutual relations, the two countries have maintained friendly exchanges and learned from each other’s civilizational achievements and contributions to human progress," Mao said. She further added that as two of the largest developing countries, China and India share the task of accelerating their development and revitalization, understanding and supporting each other's successes.
