Compassionate Appointment for NHM Contract Employees in Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a policy to offer compassionate appointments to the dependents of deceased contract employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM). The policy will take effect from April 1, 2025.

Who is Eligible?

The deceased employee's spouse or dependent husband will be eligible for the appointment. If they are unwilling or ineligible, the opportunity will pass to the son or daughter.

If the immediate family members are ineligible, other eligible dependents may include the widowed daughter-in-law, married daughter, adopted children, unmarried siblings, or transgender children. All cases must be supported by an affidavit, and educational qualification is mandatory.

Other Key Provisions

• There are currently 32,000 contract employees under NHM in the state.
• The appointment will be allowed if a post remains vacant within 7 years of the employee’s death.
• If the first child is a minor at the time of death, they will get the opportunity within a year of reaching adulthood.
• If no eligible member or vacant post is available, the family will receive financial assistance of ₹2 lakh.
• The benefit will only be given to families with no member in government or semi-government service.
• The maximum age limit for applicants is 45 years (relaxation applicable for the spouse).

Application Process

Applications must be submitted at the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) office. After verification, they will be forwarded to the State NHM office. Accidental deaths will be prioritized. If no post is available in the home district, appointment in another district is possible. The entire process must be completed within 6 months.
