Cyclone Chidjo Devastates Mayotte Island, France Thanks India's Support

On December 17, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India's support after Cyclone Chidjo devastated the Mayotte island in the French overseas territories. Cyclone Chidjo, a destructive storm, affected the French island group of Mayotte on Saturday.

According to Météo-France, Cyclone Chidjo was the most powerful storm to hit Mayotte in over 90 years. Destructive winds ravaged entire neighborhoods, destroyed power grids, and caused significant damage to critical infrastructure including hospitals, schools, and airport control towers.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier expressed his condolences, saying, "I am deeply saddened by the devastation caused by Cyclone Chidjo in Mayotte. My condolences and prayers are with the victims and their families. I trust that under President Emmanuel Macron's leadership, France will overcome this tragedy with resilience and determination. India stands in solidarity with France and is ready to provide all possible assistance."
