DAMINI App to Provide Lightning and Severe Weather Alerts
On June 16, district administration emphasized the mandatory use of the "DAMINI" mobile app for timely protection against natural disasters. Developed by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, this app provides alerts about lightning strikes and adverse weather conditions up to 24 hours in advance.
Mandatory Use of DAMINI App
The government has instructed all field staff and citizens to download and actively use the DAMINI app. It accurately predicts lightning strikes and alerts users well in time, enhancing preparedness and minimizing risk.
Awareness Campaigns on Disaster Preparedness
The administration is running public awareness campaigns at the village level regarding lightning, storms, dust storms, and other natural calamities. Information and safety tips are being disseminated through various local channels, including the help of NGOs in rural areas.
Quick Action on Weather Department Warnings
All departments have been instructed to take immediate action on short and medium-range alerts issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

To reach the public with timely alerts from the DAMINI app, the administration is using several communication methods:

- Sending SMS and internet messages up to the block level
- Village-level announcements via loudspeakers and public address systems
