Daughters Will Get Family Pension Even After Marriage: Government Issues Clarification
The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare has released a new circular confirming that unmarried, widowed, and divorced daughters will receive family pension for life. These provisions are part of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021.
Married, Widowed, or Divorced — All Daughters Eligible
The government has recently implemented several changes related to family pension. On 12 November, a new rule regarding Life Certificates was enforced. Now, if both parents want the enhanced 75% pension, they must submit their Life Certificate every year.
Regarding daughters, the government clarified that even if a daughter gets married, becomes widowed, or gets divorced, her right to receive family pension remains intact. Earlier, married daughters were not eligible, but the rules have now changed.
Will Divorced Women Receive Pension?
Yes. The government has clearly stated that all daughters—unmarried, widowed, and divorced—will receive lifelong family pension. These rules have been in effect since 2021 under the CCS Pension Rules, but stricter enforcement has begun after several court judgments.
