Deepti Sharma Becomes No. 1 T20 Bowler in ICC Rankings
The Indian women's cricket team's star all-rounder, Deepti Sharma, has reached the top spot in the latest ICC T20 bowler rankings released on Tuesday. The 28-year-old player took 1 wicket for 20 runs in the first T20 match against Sri Lanka on December 21.
This performance was enough to push Australia's Annabel Sutherland out of the first spot. Deepti has displaced Sutherland with a margin of just one rating point, reaching the top position with 737 rating points.
Reddy and Jemimah Also Benefit
Meanwhile, India's bowler Arundhati Reddy also saw a rise in the rankings. She climbed 5 places and is now at 36th position. Indian spinner Shree Charani also made a significant leap, moving up 19 places to 69th position. Jemimah Rodrigues, who was named Player of the Match in the first game, also benefitted from the rankings. She played an important role in the team's victory, scoring 69 runs off 44 balls. Jemimah has moved up 5 places in the T20 batsman rankings and is now ranked 9th.
Smriti Mandhana remains at 3rd position and is the highest-ranked Indian batter. Her opening partner, Shafali Verma, has also moved up, reaching 10th position.
Changes in ODI Rankings
However, Mandhana faced a change in the ODI rankings. South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt has displaced Mandhana from the No. 1 ODI batter position and has taken the top spot. The South African batter recently scored back-to-back centuries against Ireland, scoring 124 and an unbeaten 100 runs. She is now 9 points ahead of Mandhana with 820 rating points.
