Digantara, a Bengaluru-based satellite company, launched the world's first commercial space surveillance satellite capable of tracking small objects as small as five centimeters. The satellite was launched on March 8 and began operations on the same day.
On January 14, Digantara launched the space surveillance satellite SCOOT (Space Camera for Object Tracking) aboard SpaceX's Transporter-12 rocket. The startup posted on X that there is no longer any place to hide in space.
External surveillance of space is critical to ensure the safety of spacecraft, as Earth’s orbits are filled with artificial satellites as well as space debris.
Digantara’s CEO Anirudh Sharma stated that this achievement symbolizes the hard work of their team and their unwavering commitment to the safety of Earth’s orbits for future generations. The first image of SCOOT is more than just a technical milestone.
