Dr. Mumtaz Patel Elected as President of Royal College of Physicians

Dr. Mumtaz Patel, a British nephrologist of Indian origin, has been elected as the 123rd President of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in the UK. She is the first Indo-Asian Muslim woman and only the fifth woman to hold this prestigious position in the college's 16th-century history.

Dr. Patel completed her medical degree at the University of Manchester in 1996 and has since built a distinguished career in renal medicine. She has held various roles within the RCP, including Senior Censor and Vice President for Education and Training, and served as the RCP's acting president in 2024.

Her election marks a significant milestone in the history of the RCP, reflecting the college's commitment to diversity and inclusion in medical leadership.
