Ek Bagia Maa Ke Naam' Project Launches on 15th August for Women Empowerment

'Ek Bagia Maa Ke Naam' Project to Start on 15th August

The 'Ek Bagia Maa Ke Naam' project has been launched to strengthen the economic status of women in self-help groups. This initiative is a part of the ongoing efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, aiming to empower women economically. Several important schemes have been implemented to support this cause.

Project Overview

Under this project, which will be carried out through MNREGA, more than 30,000 women from self-help groups will plant over 30 million fruit-bearing plants on their private lands, creating a sustainable source of income for these women.

30,000 Acres of Private Land for Planting

The 'Ek Bagia Maa Ke Naam' project will involve the plantation of horticultural plants across 30,000 acres of private land owned by over 30,000 women self-help group members. This initiative will cost approximately 1000 crores, aiming to improve livelihoods by planting 30 million horticultural plants, creating orchards and enhancing economic stability for these women. The project will also provide necessary resources like plants, fertilizers, digging pits, fencing with thorny wires for plant protection, and the construction of a 50,000-litre water tank for irrigation. Women will also be trained for orchard development.

Project Timeline

The fruit plantation campaign under the 'Ek Bagia Maa Ke Naam' project will start on 15th August and will run until 15th September.

Selection of Interested Women

Women members of the self-help groups under the livelihood mission, who are interested in fruit plantation, will be selected for the project. In cases where the selected woman does not own land, the plantation will take place on the land owned by her husband, father, father-in-law, or son, with their consent.

Site Selection Using Advanced Technology

The site for plantation will be chosen using advanced technology through the SIPRI software. The land will be tested through this software to determine its suitability for planting. SIPRI software will also help identify the best climate conditions, which fruit plants are suitable for the land, and the optimal time for planting. If suitable land is not found, no plantation will be carried out.
