Geeta Samota Makes History by Scaling Mount Everest

Geeta Samota became the first officer from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to scale the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. She achieved this remarkable feat on May 19, 2025, marking a significant moment in CISF's 56-year history. Geeta reached the summit of the 8,849-meter high mountain, becoming a symbol of personal victory and India's unyielding spirit.

Geeta Samota: A Trailblazer in Mountaineering

On May 20, the CISF spokesperson announced that Geeta Samota, a 35-year-old Sub-Inspector, had successfully climbed Mount Everest. She joined CISF in 2011 and is currently stationed at the Udaipur Airport unit. Geeta is originally from Chak village in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. Initially a hockey player, she had to leave the sport due to an injury.

The Path to Everest

At that time, CISF did not have a mountaineering team. However, Geeta pursued specialized mountaineering training and, in 2019, became the first woman from any Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to summit Mount Satopanth (7,075 meters) in Uttarakhand and Mount Lobuche (6,119 meters) in Nepal.

A Historic Achievement for CISF

The spokesperson expressed pride in Geeta's accomplishment, stating, "Geeta stands atop the world’s summit, and it is not only a personal victory but also a symbol of CISF’s and the nation’s incredible resilience and strength." Geeta’s achievement has inspired countless individuals, particularly women, to pursue their dreams and never give up, regardless of the challenges faced along the way.
