• Japan's General Election: In Japan, Prime Minister Sane Takaichi secured a historic victory in the general elections. Her Liberal Democratic Party won 316 out of 465 seats in the lower house, achieving a two-thirds majority. Takaichi became Japan’s first female Prime Minister in October 2025.
• India's Davis Cup Win: India defeated the Netherlands in the first round of the Davis Cup qualifiers. This marks India's third consecutive Davis Cup victory, the first time since 2013-14. India has advanced to the second qualifier round for the first time since the new format began in 2019.
• Cheetah Birth in Madhya Pradesh: In Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park, a female cheetah named Asha, brought from Namibia, gave birth to 5 cubs. The cheetah population in India has now reached 35, with 24 cubs born in the country.
• Indian Citizenship for Pepita Seth: British-born author and photographer Pepita Seth, at the age of 84, has been granted Indian citizenship. She had applied for citizenship in 2024 and has been residing in Kerala for the past 54 years.
• Defense Cooperation with Nepal: India has strengthened defense cooperation by providing the Nepalese army with 50 military utility vehicles. This includes 20 advanced life support trucks and 30 other trucks. The handover took place at the Sonouli border in Maharajganj.
