ISRO Appointment: ISRO scientist A. Rajarajan has been appointed as the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. He previously served as the Director of Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. He succeeds retired scientist S. Unnikrishnan Nair.
Agriculture Recognition: The Maharashtra Government has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. M.S. Swaminathan on 7th August as Sustainable Agriculture Day. Dr. Swaminathan made significant contributions to increasing wheat and rice production in India.
Sports Achievement: 23-year-old Tarun Mannepalli reached the semifinals of the Namkawa Open Super 300 Men’s Singles. He defeated China's Hu Zhe in a 75-minute match. This is his first-ever BWF Super 300 semifinal appearance.
