Government Launches Automatic Birth Registration for Newborns
The Government of India has introduced a new software developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to facilitate the automatic registration of newborns' birth certificates in hospitals. This initiative aims to streamline the process and reduce paperwork for parents.
Under this system, hospitals will be equipped with devices to capture biometric data of newborns, which will be linked to the parents' Aadhaar cards. The data will be processed through the MaaNTRA (Mother and Newborn Tracking Application) app, ensuring real-time registration and issuance of digital birth certificates.
This initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to enhance digital infrastructure and improve service delivery in healthcare facilities across the country.
