Grand Saraswati Lok and Raja Bhoj Research Institute to be Established in Dhar: CM Mohan Yadav
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the state government will develop a grand Saraswati Lok within the Bhojshala complex in Dhar. He also declared the establishment of the Raja Bhoj Research Institute in the city. The government will ensure strict compliance with the High Court's order regarding the historic Bhojshala site.
The Chief Minister stated that Bhojshala, established by King Bhoj, remained one of the most prominent centers of knowledge, science, research, and Sanskrit studies for centuries. He described it as an enduring symbol of India's ancient knowledge tradition. Scholars and students from distant regions once visited Bhojshala for learning and intellectual discussions on scriptures and philosophy.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that the state government is committed to restoring Bhojshala's historic glory and reviving its legacy as a renowned center of learning. He said that Dhar, the sacred land associated with King Bhoj, will witness comprehensive development in the coming years. Various development projects will also be undertaken in coordination with the Archaeological Department in and around Dhar.
Highlighting King Bhoj's contribution to water conservation, the Chief Minister noted that the king was a pioneer in water management. The reservoirs, ponds, and water systems built during his reign continue to demonstrate his remarkable vision and planning abilities. Dhar was once known as the "City of Ponds."
According to historical records, King Bhoj constructed twelve and a half interconnected ponds to ensure water supply for the city. The system was designed so that overflow water from one pond would automatically flow into another, creating an efficient and sustainable water management network.
Dr. Yadav also highlighted the ongoing Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan (Water Conservation Campaign) across Madhya Pradesh. He said the campaign would bring a new revolution in water conservation throughout the state. Dhar district currently ranks sixth in the effective implementation of the campaign, following Khandwa, Barwani, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, and Dindori.
More than 5,000 water conservation works have been completed in the rural areas of Dhar district. Additionally, restoration and renovation work is underway on 64 ancient stepwells and ponds within the Dhar municipal area.
The Chief Minister was addressing the state-level Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan program in Dhar on Monday, coinciding with the occasion of Ganga Dussehra. During the event, he officially announced the construction of the grand Saraswati Lok dedicated to Goddess Vagdevi. Since Dhar is closely associated with the legacy of King Bhoj, the Raja Bhoj Research Institute will also be established in the city.
He further informed that a dedicated museum honoring King Bhoj is also being developed in Bhopal.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, Urban Development and Housing Minister and Dhar District In-charge Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Dhar MLA Neena Vikram Verma, MLA Kalu Singh Thakur, other public representatives, and a large number of citizens attended the event.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone for 12 development projects worth ₹88.04 crore. These projects include the construction of a four-lane high-level bridge on the Chambal River along the Lebad-Ghatabillod route, with an estimated cost of ₹27.21 crore.
