IAS Alka Upadhyaya Appointed Secretary of National Minority Commission
On August 23, senior IAS officer Alka Upadhyaya, a 1990 batch officer and once considered a top contender for the post of Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, has been transferred to what many see as a "loop line" posting. She has been appointed as the Secretary of the National Minority Commission, after being removed from her earlier position as Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
Officials and analysts suggest that being posted as Secretary to a Commission is often viewed as a bureaucratic sidelining rather than a prestigious assignment. This move is seen as a clear indication that her chances of becoming the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh have now diminished significantly.
Alka Upadhyaya had a significant presence at the central level and was considered for high-level roles, making this shift noteworthy in the ongoing administrative reshuffle.
