IIT Madras Introduces Cultural Excellence Quota for Admissions
IIT Madras will introduce a Cultural Excellence Quota for admission starting from the academic session 2025-26. Under this quota, two additional seats will be added in all undergraduate courses. IIT Madras becomes the first institution in the country to implement this quota. The aim is to encourage students excelling in fine arts and culture.
According to Kamkoti, two seats will be allocated in each of IIT Madras’s B.Tech and BS courses under the FACEE quota, with one seat reserved for women. Interested candidates must apply through the IIT Madras/FACEE admission portal. The admission process under this quota will be managed through a separate IIT Madras portal, not the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) portal.
Candidates will be awarded marks based on their excellence in fine arts and culture, including their performance in various cultural events, awards received, or scholarships. The FACEE Rank List (FRL) will be prepared based on the total marks. Candidates must pass JEE (Advanced) 2025 and secure a position in the Common Rank List (CRL) or the category-wise rank list to be eligible.
