India Blocks Chenab River Water Amid Tensions with Pakistan

On May 4, following the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan, India has blocked the flow of the Chenab River. The water has been stopped at the Baglihar Dam in Ramban, Jammu. Additionally, plans are being made to stop the flow of the Jhelum River using the Kishanganga Dam in Kashmir.

Due to the stoppage, water levels in Pakistan's Sialkot region have dropped by 6 feet.

In a show of military readiness, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A day earlier, the PM held a meeting with the Navy Chief.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated, "It is my responsibility to give a strong reply to anyone who threatens India. I assure the citizens that what you expect will definitely happen."

Meanwhile, a Turkish naval ship (TCG Buyukada) has arrived in Pakistan to boost maritime cooperation between the two countries, according to Pakistani officials.

In a separate development, Instagram accounts of Pakistani celebrities such as Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Mawra Hocane (of 'Sanam Teri Kasam' fame), and renowned Sufi singer Abida Parveen have been blocked in India.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has called a special session of the National Assembly on May 5 to discuss the rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
