India Forms AI Governance and Economic Group (AIGEG)

The Government of India has constituted a high-level inter-ministerial body called the AI Governance and Economic Group (AIGEG) to guide the country’s artificial intelligence policy and its economic impact.

According to an official statement, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will chair this inter-ministerial body.

The AIGEG will coordinate policy across various ministries, departments, and sectoral regulators, and will monitor multi-sectoral issues related to artificial intelligence.

Minister of State Jitin Prasada will serve as the Vice-Chairperson of this group.
