India Leads in AI Trust and Adoption: KPMG Global Study 2025

India Surpasses 180 Countries in AI Usage and Trust, Says KPMG Report

On May 6, a new report revealed that nearly 76% of Indians are confident in using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, far exceeding the global average of 46%. The KPMG report, titled “Trust, Attitude and Use of Artificial Intelligence: A Global Study 2025”, surveyed over 48,000 people across 47 countries and positioned India as a global leader in public trust and AI adoption.

The study highlighted that Indians are not only optimistic about AI but are also more willing to integrate it into daily life and work. About 90% of Indian respondents stated that AI has improved accessibility and effectiveness across various sectors, establishing it as a transformational force in the country.

Furthermore, 97% of Indian participants reported that they intentionally use AI at work, with 67% claiming they cannot complete their jobs without it. In contrast, only 58% of global workers use AI deliberately, and just 31% do so regularly.

This study was led by Professor Nicole Gillespie and Dr. Steve Lockey from Melbourne Business School in collaboration with KPMG. Akhilesh Tuteja from KPMG India stated that the findings indicate India's strong position to lead the world in ethical and innovative AI deployment. However, he emphasized the importance of responsible governance and policy frameworks to ensure AI’s safe and fair usage.
