India Strikes Back: 3 Major Actions Against Pakistan After Terror Attack
Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on May 4, India has taken strict actions against Pakistan. After suspending the Indus Water Treaty, the Indian government has implemented three major retaliatory measures. Pakistan, under pressure, is trying hard to mask its discomfort.
India has adopted a firm stance and immediately banned both direct and indirect imports from Pakistan. Additionally, the government has suspended all postal and parcel services originating from Pakistan. Indian ports have also been closed to Pakistani-flagged ships.
Total Ban on Imports
India announced a complete ban on all imports from Pakistan with immediate effect. This includes goods routed through third countries. The Ministry of Commerce stated, “All imports originating from Pakistan, directly or indirectly, are banned with immediate effect until further notice. The restriction is enforced in the interest of national security and public policy. Any exception will require approval from the Government of India.”
Pakistani Ships Banned from Indian Ports
India's second major strike involved banning Pakistani ships from docking at Indian ports. The government stated that no ship flying the Pakistani flag will be allowed entry into any Indian port. Similarly, no Indian-flagged ship will be permitted to dock at Pakistani ports. Exceptions will be considered only by special government approval. In response, Pakistan also banned Indian ships from entering its ports.
Postal and Parcel Services Suspended
The Indian government has also banned all postal and parcel exchanges coming from Pakistan by air or land. Officials confirmed that this measure was taken as part of the broader security and diplomatic response strategy.
Panic in Pakistan Over Possible Military Action
Amid fears of possible Indian military action, Pakistan has shown signs of panic. On May 3, it claimed to have tested its surface-to-surface Abdali missile, with a reported range of 450 kilometers. Furthermore, Pakistan has deployed its fighter jets to forward airbases, which are now conducting regular surveillance flights. Reports indicate that Pakistan’s military has already spent billions on troop movements and aerial monitoring activities.
