India Tops Global Remittance List in 2024
India received over $137 billion in remittances in 2024, retaining its position as the top recipient country in the world. It remained the only country to surpass the $100 billion mark. This information was provided by a United Nations agency on May 5.
According to the World Migration Report 2026 released by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), India continues to receive the highest remittances globally. Mexico ranks second in remittance inflows.
In 2024, India, Mexico, the Philippines, and France were among the top four countries receiving remittances worldwide. India received $137.67 billion in remittances in 2024, significantly higher than other countries.
Historical data shows India’s remittance inflows were $53.48 billion in 2010, $68.91 billion in 2015, $83.15 billion in 2020, and over $137 billion in 2024.
