Indian Army to Source Millets and Vegetables from Madhya Pradesh Farmers
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the National Agriculture Festival in Raisen on April 11.
During the event, the Defence Minister announced that Indian Army cantonments will now procure organic fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers.
This initiative will ensure fresh and nutritious food for soldiers while also providing farmers with a stable market.
He also stated that millets, known as Shree Anna such as jowar, bajra, and ragi, will be prioritized in army canteens.
The three-day agricultural fair features live demonstrations of modern technologies including corn cutters, drones, micro-irrigation systems, and livestock management solutions.
The event also includes warehousing, cold storage solutions, soil health apps, and 20 technical sessions providing farmers with a “one-stop” solution.
More than 300 stalls are showcasing advanced agricultural machinery and organic products.
