India’s First Private Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal Launched in Gujarat
On July 9, DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd), the rail PSU operating freight corridors, inaugurated the country's first private cargo terminal near Sanjali in Gujarat, close to Surat. The terminal is located strategically on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) route between Sanjali station on the DFC and Panoli station of Indian Railways.
DFCCIL announced the inauguration through an official statement, stating that the terminal has been developed over approximately 120 acres by the Sanwaria Shakti Group. DFCCIL Managing Director Praveen Kumar described the project as a significant milestone in the logistics expansion strategy of the freight corridor.
He emphasized that this initiative will help shift freight movement from roads to rail, promoting more efficient and sustainable logistics. The terminal will provide seamless connectivity to major industrial areas in Gujarat such as Panoli GIDC, Ankleshwar, Jhagadia, Dahej, and ports like Hazira and JNPT.
The terminal includes dedicated rail lines for handling containers, steel cargo, bulk goods, and truck-on-train (TOT) services.
