India's Largest Central Airbase to Be Built in Khajuraho
Madhya Pradesh received great news on the occasion of Diwali. Khajuraho is likely to become home to Central India's largest airbase. Land near the existing Khajuraho Airport has been identified for this purpose. The airbase will house fighter jets and military aircraft.
Teams from the Defense Ministry and the Indian Air Force have already inspected the location. Once mutual consent is finalized, the land acquisition process will begin.
Khajuraho Emerges as the Strongest Contender
According to media reports, the Air Force team surveyed four locations for setting up the new airbase — Allahabad, Khajuraho, Jhansi, and Gwalior. From a strategic and security standpoint, Khajuraho was deemed the most suitable.
It is being said that after the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, the need for a new airbase in Central India was strongly felt — one that could efficiently support future operations. Since then, the search for a suitable location had been underway.
If the land acquisition process proceeds, it will be a major infrastructural and strategic boost for Khajuraho and the entire region.
Political Support and Defense Ministry Approval
Local MP VD Sharma has reportedly discussed the matter with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. So far, the signals from the Defense Ministry are positive. Once the approval is formalized, the Air Force will begin evaluating how many villages and how much land will be required for the project.
