IndiGo: The Airline That Became Top with 12-Hour Daily Flight Management

In March, 1.45 crore people traveled through domestic airlines in India, a rise of 8.79% compared to the same period last year. Official figures released on Saturday revealed this growth. A total of 1.33 crore people traveled through Indian airlines in March last year.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in its monthly domestic passenger transportation report stated, “During March 2025, the number of passengers traveling via domestic airlines was 145.42 lakh, up from 133.68 lakh in the same period last year.”

In March, 93.1 lakh people traveled with IndiGo, giving it a 64% market share. The Air India group (which includes the full-service provider Air India and budget airline Air India Express) carried 38.8 lakh passengers, with a market share of 26.7%. Akasa Air and SpiceJet carried 7.2 lakh and 4.8 lakh passengers, respectively, with market shares of 5% and 3.3%.

In terms of on-time performance, IndiGo ranked the highest, with 88.1% of its flights arriving on time. It was followed by Akasa Air at 86.9%, while Air India group and SpiceJet had 82% and 72.1% of their flights on time, respectively.
