Every Home Will Have a QR Code, Location & Government Services Information, Starting June 29
Now, even your home address will be digital! Indore will implement a unique QR code system for every house.
On June 27, 2025, Indore Municipal Corporation is launching a unique and modern initiative. Over 450,000 homes in the city will receive a 'digital address'. A special QR code plate will be placed outside each home. Upon scanning the QR code, a digital page will open on your mobile showing the location of the house, electricity and water bills, property tax, and certificate details. Not only will government services be accessible, but it will also be easier to share the home address digitally.
Indore's Mayor, Pushyamitra Bhargav, stated that this plan is part of India's Digipin platform. The first pilot project will begin from Ward 82 on June 29. If successful, it will be implemented city-wide. This QR code-based system is said to be more accurate than GPS. The best part is that no fee will be charged to citizens, and personal information will remain secure with only limited details being made public.
Indore Digital Address: QR Code for Every Home
Every house will have a unique plate with a QR code on it. Scanning this code will provide not only the accurate location but also the surrounding map and an image of the house. This will help visitors, government agencies, or emergency services quickly locate the house. This feature could be revolutionary, especially for police, ambulance, and fire brigade services.
Citizens Will Access Multiple Services with One Click
The digital address system is not limited to just location details. People can also pay their electricity and water bills through this platform. Property tax, birth-death certificates, and other documents will also be available on this digital page. If the house owner shares this QR code, anyone can easily find the house without the need for Google Maps or any other app.
This initiative will make Indore the first city in India where every home will have a digital address. This is not only a step towards becoming a smart city but also strengthens the Digital India campaign. It will also enhance the city’s technological identity. This initiative could serve as a model for other cities in the future. If successful in Indore, it could be implemented in other major cities across the country.
