Inflation Alert 2026 - Petrol, Diesel, CNG and Milk Prices Rise
On 15 May 2026, rising prices of petrol, diesel, CNG, milk, gold, and silver signaled a fresh wave of inflation in India. At the same time, the Indian Rupee weakened to a historic low of 95.74, increasing concerns over higher import costs and rising inflation.
During the last 48 hours, the burden of inflation on common citizens has increased significantly as prices of several essential commodities have gone up across the country.
Petrol and Diesel Prices Increased by ₹3
On 14 May, consumers received a major shock as petrol and diesel prices were increased by ₹3 per litre.
- Petrol price in Delhi increased from ₹94.77 to ₹97.77 per litre.
- Diesel price in Delhi increased from ₹87.67 to ₹90.67 per litre.
CNG Prices Also Increased
Along with petrol and diesel, CNG prices also witnessed a hike on 14 May.
- CNG became ₹2 costlier in Delhi.
- Mumbai had already seen a ₹2 increase a day earlier.
- CNG price in Delhi is now ₹79.09 per kg.
- CNG price in Mumbai is now ₹84 per kg.
The price increase is expected to impact public transport, auto-rickshaw, and taxi services.
Milk Prices Increased
Milk prices have also gone up across the country. Several major dairy companies increased milk prices by up to ₹2 per litre.
- Amul increased milk prices by ₹2 per litre.
- Mother Dairy also increased milk prices by ₹2 per litre.
- The revised prices came into effect nationwide from 14 May 2026.
According to dairy companies, the decision was taken due to rising costs of cattle feed, transportation, and production.
The increase in milk prices may also affect the prices of products such as curd, paneer, ghee, and sweets.
