On June 24, Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on the Israeli city of Beersheba. This occurred after U.S. President Donald Trump declared a ceasefire between Israel and Iran early on Tuesday. However, the ceasefire lasted only a few hours.
Trump Announces Ceasefire, but It Lasted Only 2.5 Hours
About two and a half hours after the ceasefire began, Iran fired six ballistic missiles at Israel. One missile struck a building in Beersheba, killing five people and injuring over 20 others.
Israel Responds with Bombing in Tehran
In retaliation for the Iranian attack, Israel ordered its military to strike Tehran. Shortly before, Israel had already attacked a radar site in Tehran, confirming the attack through Israeli Army Radio.
Trump Calls Netanyahu to Stop the Attacks
Following the new wave of attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to halt the attack on Iran. According to Al Jazeera's report, Netanyahu told Trump, "I cannot stop the attack, as Iran violated the ceasefire first, and it is necessary to respond."
