ISRO has created history by docking two satellites in space, making India the fourth country after the United States, Russia, and China to achieve this feat. The space docking experiment was launched on December 30, 2024. The docking technique is necessary when multiple rockets are needed for a single mission.
Before this, on January 12, ISRO successfully conducted a trial for docking. As part of this experiment, ISRO achieved success in connecting the two satellites in space. The experiment was launched on December 30, 2024, using the PSLV C60 rocket. Two small satellites, SDX01 and SDX02, were launched and placed in a 475-kilometer circular orbit from the Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota.
About the Satellites and the Mission
The two satellites, SDX01 and SDX02, were launched as part of the space docking experiment to demonstrate this advanced technology. These small satellites were successfully placed into orbit with the help of the PSLV C60 rocket, and the entire operation was a significant step towards enhancing India's capabilities in space exploration.
