ISRO's 100th Rocket Launch from Sriharikota
ISRO has achieved its 100th rocket launch milestone from Sriharikota's Satish Dhawan Space Centre. On January 29, the GSLV-F15 rocket launched the NVS-02 navigation satellite. This satellite is the second of the next-generation satellites under the NavIC series. NVS-02 will assist in transport, defense, and logistics services.
The NVS-02 satellite, launched via the GSLV-F15 rocket, will provide precise positioning, speed, and time information to users across India and approximately 1,500 km beyond the Indian subcontinent. The satellite will ensure continuous navigation services and improve defense capabilities through local navigation systems for military operations. The NVS series is designed and developed by the UR Satellite Centre, and NVS-02 weighs approximately 2,250 kg. It also features a navigation payload in the L1, L5, and S-band frequencies, in addition to the C-band ranging payload.
This satellite will help in agricultural and satellite orbit determination, as well as provide location-based services in mobile devices and emergency services.
