Kenyan Woman Breaks Record by Hugging a Tree for 72 Hours

On December 12, Kenyan environmental activist Truphina Mathoni broke her own record by hugging a tree for 72 hours. Her previous record was 48 hours. According to local media reports, Truphina's peaceful protest is significant because it disregards all differences. Often protests are associated with bullying stories, but this protest was aimed at awakening humanity. Reports indicate that Truphina Mathoni chose a local tree in the government compound of Nyeri city for this challenge.

The report further mentioned that during this challenge, Truphina almost fell asleep, but her supporters kept her awake. Truphina Mathoni stated that she wanted to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change and deforestation. She also spoke to the local media about the significance of the outfit she wore during the challenge. She explained that the black color in her outfit represents African strength, resistance, and resilience, the green color symbolizes forests, new life, and hope, while the red color represents local resistance and courage to face the situation, and the blue color signifies water and marine conservationists.
