- Smriti Mandhana Wins BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year: 29-year-old Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been named the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year. She also broke Virat Kohli’s record by scoring the fastest century (in 50 balls) for India in 50-over international cricket.
- India’s First Underwater Road-Rail Tunnel in Assam: India’s first underwater road-cum-rail tunnel will be constructed under the Brahmaputra River in Assam. The 33.7 km greenfield corridor will connect Gohpur and Numaligarh. A 15.79 km twin-tube tunnel will be built beneath the river for rail connectivity.
- Mumbai Water Metro to Launch in December: Mumbai will launch its Water Metro service in December, featuring battery-operated ferries. Initially, it will connect Nariman Point, Worli, Bandra, Juhu, and Versova. In the future, it will be linked to Navi Mumbai International Airport. India’s first Water Metro service was launched in Kochi.
- Tariq Rahman Becomes Bangladesh Prime Minister: Tariq Rahman became the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh after his party, BNP, secured 209 out of 297 seats in the 13th parliamentary elections. He took oath at the Parliament House in Dhaka. Tariq Rahman is the son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
- China Expanding Nuclear Weapons Facilities: According to new satellite images, China is expanding secret nuclear weapons centers in Sichuan province, where new bunkers and pipelines have been observed. Currently, nine countries collectively possess approximately 12,321 nuclear weapons worldwide.
